NEW YORK! The city that never sleeps, the city where dreams come true.
The last time I posted a blog was in October 2017. Clearly I am not very consistent, but I guess the ones who read my blog know this about me.
After rethinking it a 100 times, I decided to share the pictures of my New York trip with you guys. Which feels a bit ridiculous since we are already in July and my trip was back in February. At the time I was not feeling like myself at all. So I haven’t been really active on my social media channels or on my blog. I am just taking my time to work on myself, travel and take in all the new experiences. After moving from the Netherlands to another country, the girls and I had a couple of rough months. Working on building our lives again from zero in a completely new country, turned out to be a bit harder than expected.
So to get away and clear our minds we decided to book a trip to New York. At first I was super anxious, because the last time I was in New York was 20 years ago. When I was at age 2 my mom moved to New York, where she gave birth to my sister Cynthia and we lived there for 5 years. After that we moved to Dominican Republic for a while and eventually we moved back to Amsterdam. Until February this year I had never gone back to the states.
Although we were not there for a long time I can really say, it was exactly the place I needed to be to get motivated and inspired again. I remember the highlight of my trip was on one of our last nights, when we were drinking some cocktails at this cute spot around the corner of Times square, they were playing some old New York jazz. I walked out to get some fresh air for a moment and I looked up to all these big beautiful lighted buildings. That moment I felt like such a little girl in this huge city, but I also felt such an amazing feeling. A sparkle and a fire to go back home, get back on track and work harder on making my dreams come true.
I can’t wait to visit New York again, I know there is still much of this amazing city I want to see and experience. But for now I am grateful that I got the chance to go back.
The one thing I can say is; that although following my dream is not as easy as I thought it would be. Looking back today, it was the best choice I have ever made in my life.
